Its unorthodox design, similar in shape to the Clan Daishi, made many manufacturers skeptical, and the design passed from sight until it was sold to Burger's Battlemechs in late 3054 as part of MMDC's bankrupcy deal. Burger engineers studied the design and saw its potential. They redesigned the Longstrike as an Omnimech and it began production in June, 3055 as Burger's Battlemechs third production Omnimech. One thing that Burger engineers discovered is that the basic chassis design, while unorthodox, was remarkably simple. This kept costs lower than would be expected, as the engineers were able to use more standard, "off the shelf", components, structure, and myomer rather than custom-build them. This enabled Burger engineers to create a highly efficient machine. Due to the simplicity of its design and parts, the LNS-O Longstrike has more internal space for pods than any other Omnimech, Clan or Inner Sphere. 44 tons of pod space ensure an adequate arsenal. The primary configuration, similar to the original Longstrike design, holds a pair of Gauss Rifles, one in each arm, with 2.5 tons of ammunition for each. Back-up power is provided by 6 Medium Lasers, while a Guardian ECM Suite and an Anti-Missile System help protect the mech. The other three variants also emphasize the Longstrikes role as a long range support mech, though each has significant backup power should an enemy stray too close. The B variant especially is one to beware of up close, as it carries an impressive 11 Medium Lasers, along with the heat sinks to use them. Variant "D" is similar to the Primary configuration, and is a common configuration in those units that captured Clan tech during Operation Bulldog. [The bulk of the Longstrikes built thus far are in various Federated Commonwealth and mercenary units. Limited sales have been made to the other Houses, and they have greedily gobbled up all they could. A few extra shipments have been sent to the Free Worlds League in return for concessions for Burger's Battlemechs use of League-designed mechs.
