Tuscaloosa's Black Warrior Parkway

The Black Warrior Parkway is a 4-lane undivided highway along the western side of the Tuscaloosa area.  The original section was built ca. 2000-01 in conjunction with a toll bridge across the Black Warrior River, and came about both to spur development on the west side of Tuscaloosa and as an alternate route for travelers to avoid heavy traffic in Tuscaloosa and Northport going between I-20/59 and US 82 West or US 43 North.  An extension of the Black Warrior Parkway, from just north of the river to US 43 in northern Northport and mostly signed as Rose Blvd, was built ca. 2006.  This page documents photos from various locations along the Black Warrior Parkway (referenced below as simply "the Parkway").  All photos were taken by the webmaster (Adam Froehlig) in 2001.

Oversized Interstate shields at the south end of the Parkway.
Looking northbound at the start of the Parkway, just north of I-20/59.
Southbound US 11/43 at the Parkway.  The former 11/43/CR 16 intersection was torn up by construction of the Parkway, and so a short segment of the Parkway on either side of US 11/43 is also CR 16.  The Parkway itself is not a county route.
The northern end of the Parkway at US 82.  The northern extension described above is a little over a mile west of here.
