To: East New Orleans, LA

This is my idea for what REALLY should happen to the I-49 South proposal. The routing of US 90 between Lafayette and New Orleans is far more east/west than it is north/south. Also, approaching the New Orleans area, the route goes southwest/northeast, which means under the proposed scenario, heading "southbound" on I-49 in that area, you'll really be heading "northeast". My proposal is to reroute I-10 onto it, solving the problem. I also add some construction for an additional eastern "loop" of New Orleans, and reroute I-10 onto it. This loop utilizes mostly undeveloped land (except near Lafayette St and the Westbank) and I-510.

This fictional guide goes from west to east, as the mileposts do, so if you are heading westbound, go to the bottom and scroll up. It includes some stretches that are on existing real-life highways. I've included additional lanes on some stretches that I feel need them, as well as adding a couple routes and modifying a few interchanges. Mileages are rough and may not reflect actual mileage along the corridor. Route shields framed in blue indicate Exit List continuations (click on the shield to continue).
