MN 3

Background:

The MN 3 fictional freeway is my thought on a new north-south principal arterial to handle major growth in central Dakota County, and is based on an early proposal that had the Lafayette Freeway (then-MN 3, now-US 52) extended to the south of MN 55 towards Rosemount. Fictional MN 3 thus begins at the existing US 52/MN 55 interchange in Inver Grove Heights and travels generally southerly then westerly on new alignment to the existing MN 3 south of Diffley Rd/CSAH 30. The freeway section of Fictional MN 3 extends to south of Cliff Rd/CSAH 32 (which is Fictional MN 132 in my fantasy system), where Fictional MN 3 then becomes at-grade expressway, bypassing central Rosemount to the east on new alignment from roughly Farm Rd south to Dakota CSAH 46. Fictional MN 3 would also include an expressway upgrade to the existing MN 3 south of Rosemount to Faribault.

4-lane urban arterial from MN 21 to Rice CR 76.
4-lane at-grade expressway from Rice CR 76 to Rice CSAH 1.
4-lane urban expressway from Rice CSAH 1 to MN 246.
4-lane urban arterial from MN 246 to the Rice/Dakota County line.
4-lane at-grade expressway from the Rice/Dakota County line to 225th St W in Farmington.
4-lane urban expressway from 225th St W to Dakota CSAH 66.
4-lane at-grade expressway from Dakota CSAH 66 to Fictional Dakota CSAH 37/Farm Rd.
4-lane freeway from Fictional Dakota CSAH 37/Farm Rd to US 52/MN 55.
