Starting Point:  At I-20 in Edwards, Hinds County
Ending Point:  At US 51/MS 16 in Canton, Madison County
Total Distance:  43 miles

Counties:  Hinds, Madison
Cities/towns over 5,000 pop served:  Canton

Multiplexes:  None

NHS:  None

Freeway Segments:  None

Other Multilane Segments:  From I-55 to US 51/MS 16 in Canton

Average Daily Traffic (1999):
Hinds County:  480 (southwest of Queens Hill) to 650 (near Madison County)
Madison County:  940 (near Hinds County) to 4,100 (in Flora) to 1,000 (east of Livingston) to 11,000 (in Canton)

Relatively minor east-west route.  For those who don't want to bother with high-traffic routes, this serves as a shortcut of sorts between I-20 west and I-55 north, although it is a narrow, winding 2-lane road for the most part.

Some have called for 4-laning it, to the point where bills were introduced to the Legislature for it, but so far have not been successful.

What I'd Do:
4-lane it (with some straightening) between I-20 and I-55 to serve as an outer bypass of the rapidly-growing Jackson area in this quadrant.
