Western Terminus

MN 290 is a short route serving the Ah-Gwah-Ching Center, a state run nursing home just south of Walker. This was originally the state turburculosis sanatarium; the name Ah-Gwah-Ching is Ojibway for "outside" referring to the practice of giving patients fresh air.  This is what appears to be the west end.  Photo by Monte Castleman, taken May, 2002.

Eastern Terminus

The intersection with MN 200/MN 371.  According to Monte, there are no MN 290 shields posted, although I recall a MN 290 trailblazer on MN 200/371 back in the early '90s.  Photo by Monte Castleman, taken May, 2002.
